New business, Maddison Coaching, successfully hosted its first symposium in Central London this week. Entitled ‘The Power of Imagery to Enhance Performance’, delegates were drawn from the world both of blue-chip business and professional sport. The day also served as Maddison Coaching’s official launch event.
Welcoming delegates to the prestigious CitizenM Hotel, Tower of London, business owner and lead practitioner, Vicky Maddison, talked about her belief that everyone should be given the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability. “At Maddison Coaching, we believe that even the best can get better; that’s what our business is based on,” she said.
The symposium’s keynote speaker was Dr Jo Batey, Maddison Coaching’s Sport and Exercise Science consultant and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Winchester. Jo explored how imagery, or visualisation, can be used to enhance performance in business and in sport, as well as to help individuals deal with anxieties or to move on from mistakes. Delegates were given the opportunity to try some visualisation techniques and to network with each other over an excellent working lunch.
Speaking at the end of the day, delegates said:
“This was a really interesting event; it was good to meet such a range of people and share their understanding of how imagery can work for them.”
“Although I am not sports-focussed, I will definitely be taking away ideas from today to use in my own practice.”
“It was the best lecture I’ve ever had on the subject!”
